Landscapes
Jeff Heijne & Rik Cornelissen
Landscapes
Flamenco guitarist Jeff Heijne and accordionist Rik Cornelissen both have an insatiable curiosity for discovering and bringing together different music genres, in the search for their own sound. By means of self-written compositions and arrangements you will be taken on a journey through flamenco, latin, tango, jazz and classical music landscapes. One of the beautiful properties of both the guitar and the accordion, is the leading and supporting roles they can take on. The result is a varied program full of rhythmic, calming, intimate, melancholic, powerful, but also vulnerable music. An exchange between two top musicians with completely different backgrounds!
Jeff Heijne
Jeff completed a unique bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with flamenco guitarist Eric Vaarzon Morel as his main subject teacher and also took courses with respected flamenco guitarists such as Manolo SanlĂșcar, JosĂ© Antonio Rodriguez, Manolo Franco, Paco Serrano and Tomatito. He toured Spain with the Pablo Martinez Flamenco Jazz Band, played with Mascha van Nieuwkerk on the main stage of the Uitmarkt, toured the Netherlands with the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble with ‘Troubadours’ and has already performed in prestigious Dutch concert halls such as the Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Ahoy and the Bimhuis. As one of the five winners, Jeff received the YAA-award 2018 (Young Artsupport Amsterdam); an annual award given to young and special artists in the field of film, music, theater and art. With the prize money, Jeff recorded his second CD: ‘Reflejos Del Alma’ under his own management. This album, also called reflections of the soul, is a musical journey through the world of Jeff Heijne, a unique guitarist who is looking to blur the boundaries between flamenco and other music styles. In his self-written and arranged compositions he tells about profound experiences that have influenced his development as a person and as a guitarist. Armed with the guitar he takes on stereotypes, existing conventions and themes such as loneliness, love and escaping reality.
