Rik Cornelissen Intra-Collective
The Rik Cornelissen Intra-Collective is a remarkable ensemble where the blending of everyone’s musical background forms the basis on many levels. The compositions and arrangements are made for and by the individual players. The music explores and bridges boundaries, is meditative, explosive, colorful and surprising. There is a continuous tension between composition and improvisation, between development and standstill and floats between musical styles – improvised chamber music is perhaps the most fitting description.
From Within, From Without
On the border of Brabant and Limburg lies one of the most beautiful art routes in the Netherlands. The Kapellenbaan is a special tourist route that runs through Boxmeer, Cuijk and Gennep. The Dutch composer and accordionist Rik Cornelissen is fascinated by the beauty of the art route of the Kapellenbaan. Based on works of art in Kunstroute Kapellenbaan, Cornelissen and his group have written four new compositions, under the title From Within, From Without.
‘Rik Cornelissen has gathered a top ensemble around him’
November Music
With the theme of ‘peace and contemplation’, the artworks of the Kapellenbaan represent the relationship between man and nature. ‘Experiencing everything’, bridging physical and imaginary boundaries and meditation are recurring components. Cornelissen opts for a colourful ensemble. Music that explores the field of tension between composition and improvisation, between development and stillness, between polyphony and homophony, between unity and individuality and between different musical traditions.
