Since 2024, Rik Cornelissen and Armand van Wijck have been organizing a summer course that covers various aspects of improvisation. This two-day course offers an inspiring opportunity to learn to improvise, with an emphasis on musicality and ensemble playing. On the second day, there will be worked together with a bassist and drummer, creating a real sense of interaction. The course is open to participants of all ages and is suitable for all levels of performance, provided you have basic technical and musical knowledge.
We work in two groups (divided by level) of maximum 8 people in which beginners get the support they need to learn to improvise. And (very) advanced students are challenged with more complex forms of improvisation and technique.
The course includes information and exercises on improvising melodies and accompaniments, phrasing, rhythm, playing technique and musicality. On Friday evening there is a demonstration by Rik and Armand in which specific artistic choices and insights are shared based on a mini-concert.

The course has a maximum capacity of 16 participants (i.e., two groups of 8 participants).
Registration is possible until the 1st of July 2025.
Registration is completed after submitting the online registration form and online payment. An invoice will be sent in reply shortly after submission.
Refund is possible before the 24th of May 2025 (100% refund) and the 14th of June 2025 (50% refund). After the 15th of June 2025 no refund is possible anymore.
If the course is cancelled by us (due to unexpected circumstances), there will be a full refund.
